BIRANCHI PRASAD SAHU
I am an artist, photographer and designer with a deep commitment to promoting the rich cultural heritage of Odisha
His artistic journey encompasses a wide array of fields including painting, designing, organizing cultural events, and training students and artisans in fine art, craft, graphic design and animation
I hold a Bachelor of Fine Art and Applied Art degree from Berhampur University (1999) and a Master of Visual Art with a specialization in Animation and Graphic Design from Utkal University of Culture (2008). Currently, I’m pursuing my Ph.D. from Utkal University of Culture. Throughout my career, I have collaborated with fellow artists in various fields such as Dhokra & Bell metal craft, Pattachitra, Applique craft, and mask and toy crafts of Odisha. My passion for Odisha's cultural heritage has led me to successfully showcase the state's rich traditions through the state tableau during national Republic Day parades in New Delhi (2003, 2006, 2007, 2011 & 2013). I also designed the Odisha IITF Pavilion at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi in 2014 and 2015 as a design consultant for NIFT Bhubaneswar. My work has been recognized with several awards, including best presentation and best music in 2007 by the Government of India, and I was felicitated by Hon’ble C.M. Shri Naveen Patnaik at state-level functions in 2006 & 2007.
The Hidden Valley
Sculpted by wind and water, the sand forms a miniature landscape of ridges, valleys and fragile peaks. Viewed from this intimate perspective, a small formation on Puri Beach takes on the scale and mystery of a distant mountain terrain—an ephemeral work of art created entirely by nature.

Cathedral of Sand
In this close study of the beach, wind-shaped sand rises like pillars, draperies and weathered stone. What appears at first to be a section of shoreline begins to resemble an ancient architectural facade, revealing how nature quietly creates its own sculpture and design.

Sandscape
Rising from the beach like a distant mountain range, these fragile formations transform grains of sand into an expansive landscape. Their rhythm, texture and repeated vertical forms reveal nature as both sculptor and architect—creating a world that exists only until wind or tide reshapes it.

Nature’s Monuments
These delicate sand formations rise like ancient monuments, shaped by the quiet collaboration of wind, water and time. Their vertical rhythm, deep grooves and sculptural surfaces turn an ordinary beach into a temporary gallery of natural forms—fragile, expressive and constantly changing.

Sculpted Silence
Carved by wind and receding water, the sand forms deep folds, ridges and vertical walls that resemble an ancient terrain. In monochrome, these temporary structures become almost monumental, revealing the quiet geometry and sculptural beauty hidden within the surface of Puri Beach.

Whispers of the Vanishing Shore
The tide withdraws like a breath held too long, leaving behind a fleeting manuscript written in sand. Ripples rise and fold into one another, forming delicate ridges that echo the language of ancient, forgotten structures. For a brief moment, the shoreline becomes a living sculpture—an architecture not built by hands, but by water, wind, and time itself. Soon, the sea will return to smooth it all away, erasing every trace of its quiet artistry.
